Corn Island is located about 70 kilometers east of the Atlantic coast of Nicaragua. It lies in the Caribbean Sea surrounded by beautiful white, sandy beaches and wonderful snorkeling and diving spots with under water visibility up to 75 feet in some areas. Paraiso is located on the west part of Corn Island, right on the unspoiled beach. |
If you take a good look
on the
map, you will find
Paraiso on the south-
west side of the island. |
Corn Island is full with exotic fruit trees, native palms and surrounded by white sand beaches. A haven for pirates and buccaneers in the 17th century, untold numbers of shipwrecks and treasures still lay scattered along the turquoise shores. |
The local Islanders, descendant from the original British prospectors and freed slaves, make their living from harvesting lobster and fish from the prolific, offshore fishing banks. Many Miskito Indians from the nearby "Miskito Coast" as well as Nicaraguans from the "mainland" have moved to Corn Island in recent years, diversifying the population and languages overheard on the island. Still, the laid back atmosphere and lifestyle seems to overtake anyone who visits Corn Island.
Paraiso is located a 3 minutes taxi ride from the island airstrip. So the best way to reach us is to take a flight from Managua. There are 2 airline companies flying to Corn Island, Atlantic and La Costeña. There flight schedules are the same. Daily flights leave Managua at around 7 am and at 2 pm. Paraiso is also accessible via Blue Fields.
Transport from and to the airport on Corn Island is complementary of the hotel, just let us know which plane you will be taking and we will arrange your transport on the island. |
